Coronavirus: Miriam O'Callaghan to present Ireland's The Late Late Show as Ryan Tubridy self-isolates for 'persistent cough'

Miriam O’Callaghan will present Ireland’s The Late Late Showtonight (Friday 27 March) after Ryan Tubridy continues to self-isolate due to a “persistent cough”.

Journalist Kevin Doyle tweeted the news, along with the report that this will mark the first time a woman has fully presented the world’s longest-running chat show.

O’Callaghan said in a statement: “I’m delighted to be able to step in tonight and present The Late Late Show.

“We have to keep the show on the road. Best wishes to Ryan.”

Tubridy missed his regular spot on RTE’s Radio One due to his ongoing illness, with Oliver Callan filling in.

Callan explained on the morning weekday slot: “Ryan has had a persistent cough over the last few days and he’s getting it checked out so no need to worry.”

The news comes after Tubridy was praised by RTE viewers last week as he carried out a coronavirus test live on the chat show.

Tonight’s Late Late Show will feature a special segment paying tribute to emergency workers on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.
