Coronavirus: Matthew McConaughey personally delivers 110,000 face masks to hospitals in Texas

Matthew McConaughey personally delivered a truck full of face masks to hospitals treating people for coronavirus in Texas.

The Mud actor and his wife, model and designer Camila Alves McConaughey, dropped off 110,000 face masks on Friday 22 May.

“Thanks to @lincoln for donating 110 thousand masks – me and @camilamcconaughey hitting the road to get em to rural hospitals in need across Texas,” he wrote.

In April the couple made another large donation of masks to healthcare workers. They gave out 80,000 masks through Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel’s BStrong relief initiative.

Earlier this year, McConaughey surprised a Texas nursing home by hosting a virtual bingo night for the elderly housed there.

McConaughey is just one of many celebrities using their resources for pandemic relief.

Eminem has been donating “Mom’s Spaghetti” to healthcare workers in Detroit. Rihanna has been donating resources to New York hospitals.

Taylor Swift has sent $3,000 (roughly £2,500) each to fans who have complained about their financial burdens.

Ariana Grande has also been transferring between $500 and $1,000 (up to £830) to more than 20 fans using the popular money transfer app Venmo.
