Coronavirus: Matthew McConaughey calls for unity in fight against 'raceless, sexless' enemy

Matthew McConaughey has posted a message asking for unity amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In the 90-second-long video, the Interstellar star says: "In these crazy times that we're in with the coronavirus, let's take care of ourselves, and each other."

"Let's not go to the lowest common denominator and get paranoid," McConaughey continues. "Let's do our due diligence and take the precautions we need to to take care of ourselves."

"We're more dependent on each other than we ever have been."

The Texas-born actor also called the virus an enemy that is "faceless, that is raceless, sexless, nondenominational, and bipartisan," suggesting that the coronavirus could ultimately bring together a politically divided world.

He concluded by saying he hopes that people will eventually "turn a red light into a green light".

"Now I know why the University of Texas football brings McConaughey in for pregame speeches," one inspired viewer said.

"He'll make everything alright", said another, referencing McConaughey's famous catchphrase.

Some other Hollywood A-listers have already tested positive for the disease, including Tom Hanks and Idris Elba.
