Mason Mount has reportedly apologised to Chelsea boss Frank Lampard after being pictured enjoying a kickabout when he should have been self-isolating.
Mount caused outrage by having a park kickabout with West Ham's Declan Rice and friends on Sunday - when he was supposed to be self-isolating after teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive for coronavirus last week.
Now Chelsea midfielder Mount could face a hefty fine - but he has apologised to manager Lampard over the phone, according to the Daily Mail.
Mount was reminded of his responsibilities by Chelsea after being spotted playing at Trent Park Football centre near Barnet on Sunday.
The warning was extended to Mount's team-mates after all those who had been in contact with Hudson-Odoi were ordered into self-isolation.
West Ham midfielder Rice was under no such order, although Hammers boss David Moyes has self-isolated following contact with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who has also tested positive for coronavirus.
England internationals and close pals Mount and Rice, both 21, were spotted enjoying their kickabout by a dad taking his 14-year-old son to football training on Sunday.
The pair pulled up in their cars - a Bentley and a Mercedes - and proceeded to have a kickabout with pals in front of stunned onlookers.
The dad said: “I took my 14-year-old son there for a training session.
“We noticed a car that looked a bit ridiculous and wondered who was in it.
“Then another came along with three or four people inside. My son recognised Mason Mount as the driver.
“They played a kickabout of five or six-a-side. Declan Rice was playing too.
"They were wearing snoods but it wasn’t obvious whether they were using them to protect other people or so they wouldn’t be noticed.
“When I went back to the car I thought, ‘Hang on.’
“We’ve got someone out in public who is a team-mate of Callum Hudson-Odoi, who actually has coronavirus. It looked like none of them were taking the situation very seriously.
“I would imagine their clubs would be horrified.”
A Chelsea spokesman said the club have reminded Mount of his responsibilities.
West Ham insist that Rice had done nothing wrong.
