Manchester United fans are being asked to nominate fellow Reds who are key workers – to salute their contribution during the coronavirus pandemic.
United's 'Frontline Heroes' campaign is designed to recognise those who have gone above and beyond in their particular role to help those affected by Covid-19 and the lockdown.
Launched today on United's official website, the club wants fans to nominate individuals they feel are worthy of special recognition and to honour them accordingly.
Fans can nominate key workers by heading to United's official website and filling out a form on the 'Frontline Heroes' section.
A statement on United's website read: “In these unprecedented times, there are many Manchester United fans around the world working selflessly for others on the frontline of the battle against coronavirus.
“We need your help to identify some of these Frontline Heroes who deserve recognition for the contributions they are making.
“We want to hear about the Manchester United fans working in the NHS or their local health service; the care workers looking after the elderly; the key workers providing essential services to communities; and the volunteers supporting charities or helping vulnerable neighbours.
“Whoever they are, we want to hear your stories about their dedication to helping others at this time of need.
“We will be celebrating all of the people nominated and selecting some for special recognition.”
United have certainly played their part in helping during the coronavirus crisis, and their former defender Patrice Evra has pledged to match up to £250,000 of donations to provide meals for NHS workers.
He is hoping to raise £500,000 in partnership with Lineage Logistics, a food storage company which aims to send 100 million meals across the world to those who need them most during the pandemic.
"It was when I spoke to staff at Hillingdon Hospital in London and at Manchester Royal Infirmary that I realised we should do more to support the unsung heroes – the cleaners, porters, security staff, without whom the hospitals would not function," Evra said.
