Coronavirus: Love Island's Ollie Williams shoots deer and says it's better than stockpiling

Love Island 's Ollie Williams - who quit the villa three days after arriving over leaked pictures of him hunting - bragged about 'bagging a deer for the larder' as British shoppers went mad in the supermarkets.

The 23-year-old aristocrat, who was forced to deny being involved in trophy hunting earlier this year after pictures of him posing with guns and dead exotic animals emerged, vowed to teach followers how to stalk and kill roe deer.

"Hey guys. Second YouTube video will go up on my channel tonight and it is a video of me hunting, to give you a heads up," he said on his Instagram Story.

"It's basically a day with the rifles, zeroing etc. on the range, and then going out in the evening and bagging a deer for the larder.

"So you see all this stockpiling going on and instead of me going down to the supermarket I decided it was better for me to go out and harvest the meat for myself so that's what I've done."

He then implored his followers to watch the video themselves and "hoped they enjoy it".

Fans were divided over his heroic attempts to let elderly and more vulnerable people take their pick of the supermarket shelves, with many branding him "sick" for enjoying killing animals.

But one commented: "You’re posting what u want and what u enjoy fair play."

Ollie replied underneath with a bicep emoji, adding: "Got to be real bro."

Another pointed out: "Ouuuu bud your going to loose lots of followers with this post!"

Ollie hit back, "who cares?"

The almost-a-reality-star is still with his girlfriend Laura Nofer, who he claimed to have left Love Island for just days after the Islanders arrived in South Africa.

His decision to go home and get the girl just happened to coincide with the trophy hunting pictures being splashed across the papers, but Ollie denied any involvement in the grim practice.

"I have to follow my heart in this scenario and it would be wrong for me to ignore these feelings," he said on leaving the villa.

"At the end of the day, this is Love Island and it's about finding love. If I carried on anything with Paige, or any other girl that might come into the villa, it wouldn't be fair on them."

He later issued a longer statement, saying: "Having left the Love Island house I have become aware of the press stories circulating in the UK.

"I would like to make a number of comments on the various claims and accusations.

"I had no knowledge of the stories until I had left the Love Island villa and all cast members are unaware of any news stories while they are on the programme."

He added: "My reasons for leaving Love Island are as communicated on the show.

"I did not shoot any of the animals shown in the photographs nor have I ever shot as a trophy hunter.

"I did volunteer to take part in the conservation and anti-poaching programme in Mozambique, a part off which involves old or sick animals being culled. I was there as an observer.

"As I am no longer in Love Island, I will comment no further on this issue."

Paige Turley, who he coupled up with at first in the villa, went on to win Winter Love Island 2020 with Finn Tapp.

She claimed this week they've not yet received their £50,000 cash prize, which she needs to pay off her debts.

Paige and Finn have also spoken about starting a family soon and want to have two massive weddings when they tie the knot.
