Coronavirus: Loose Women fans furious over return of live audience - despite it being a repeat

Loose Women fans were left raging over the return of its live audience today - not realising that it was just a repeat.

ITV announced at the weekend that filming for Loose Women and Lorraine would cease so that efforts could be focused on Good Morning Britain and This Morning amid the coronavirus pandemic.

However some viewers didn't get the memo as they raged after seeing the Loose Women panel hug, high five and appear to disregard the new social distancing guidance.

The 20th anniversary special aired today in place of the usual programme and saw Stacey introduce baby Rex to the rest of the panel.

Flocking to Twitter, some viewers accused the ITV daytime show of being "a total disgrace" for appearing to disregard the government advice.

One raged: "Bloody shame on #loosewomen 4 not social distancing, wenever @piersmorgan said this morning bout how life saving it is.Shame on @itv 4 not carrying through the 2 metres space.Even @hollywills & @Schofe sat apart.#loosewomen take it off air now 4 not complying wit #UKGoverment."

While another fumed: "Total discrase.I am practicing social isolating as we all should. What makes ur presenters so special that they are not following government advice.Showing shots of them hugging and kissing, full audience,do your bit and advertise how we all NEED to do our bit #covid19 #loosewomen."

A third wrote: "Is #LooseWomen recorded live? I'm watching an audience all sitting closely together, with a panel much closer than 6 ft apart. Definitely not giving the right impression of how serious this situation is. #ITV"

Another shared a grab of the programme, tweeting: "Nice to see #loosewomen observing #SocialDistancing... NOT."

"This Morning following the guidelines for social distancing and then five minutes later the Loose Women come out holding hands?" another confused viewer questioned.

However other viewers attempted to correct the furious fans, pointing out that it was a repeat.

One commented: "I repeat, it's a repeat. #Loosewomen."

Another tweeted: "It's more entertaining reading the tweets and comments about it being a repeat than watching the show #LooseWomen."

A third frustrated viewer wrote: "Is everyone so stupid @loosewomen #loosewomen IS AN REPEAT. THERE ON LOCKDOWN. ALL THE SHOWS OF LOOSE WOMEN THIS WEEK BE AN REPEAT."

*Loose Women repeats air weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV
