Coronavirus: Loose Women axes live studio audience over pandemic fears

The Loose Women panel will not be joined by a live studio audience from today.

It will be the first time that the ITV debate show has decided to air without fans present.

It is understood that the decision has been made as coronavirus continues to spread around the world.

The news came from the ticket site SRO Audiences - who usually provide tickets to audience members wanting to get on the show.

A statement on their website read: "We do not know when audiences will return to the show.

"But the dates on which the show will take place are still on the website and you may add yourself to the waiting list so that, if audiences are admitted back to the show on that date, we can contact you to let you know."

In a statement released to Mirror Online, ITV said: "In order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, ITV has asked all producers to consider whether shows which normally have a live audience can be made without one.

"Decisions need to be made on a show by show basis, in consultation with commissioning teams [at ITV network] and taking into account the role of the audience in each show.

"Although we love to have an audience on Loose Women, we are following this guidance and adapting the show during this period so we don't have an audience on set. This will commence from Monday 16th March."

Loose Women is returning to TV screens today after it was cancelled last week, for four days, due to a shake-up to the schedule that made way for the Cheltenham Festival coverage.

On Friday Loose Women presenter Stacey Soloman told her social media followers her partner Joe Swash is not feeling well after admitting she’s worried about COVID-19.

Stacey, 30, held 10-month-old Rex in her arms while addressing her fans on Instagram .

The telly personality wrote: “Loads of you asking where Hoe is today... he's ear is really playing him up so he's in bed resting (sic).”

She lovingly refers to her husband as “Hoe” on her social media.

"But I'm quite please because now he won't find out that I caved, gotta find somewhere to hide it until Easter (sic)," she added, referring to the Easter eggs she’d bought earlier.

Ahead of sharing about Joe being unwell she confessed she’s stockpiling after becoming concerned over the coronavirus outbreak.

Stacey took herself on a shopping spree around Home Sense and Poundland to stock up on arts and crafts bits for the kids on a rare child-free morning, in preparation for going into “self-isolation mode”.

*Loose Women airs Monday to Friday at midday on ITV.
