Coronavirus lockdown restrictions lifting in Scotland today

It's another big day for businesses across Glasgow with the latest round of lockdown easing measures lifting.

Beauticians, nail bars and universities can reopen for the first time since restrictions were imposed.

Motorbike lessons and theory tests will also resume, along tailoring and tattoo services.

The latest changes form part of phase three of the Scottish Government's route map out of lockdown and comes hot on the heels of the reopening of hairdressers, bars, restaurants and cafes last week.

However, it won't be business as usual for those welcoming the public back today, for strict rules have been put in place to keep everyone safe.

This includes universities and colleges where there will be a phased return with on and off campus teaching.

And the end of the road is still not in sight for many industries - including gyms, weddings and non-essential offices - with decisions yet to be made as to when they will be able to reopen their doors.

Still to be announced are:

  • Non-essential offices and call centres
  • Outdoor live events
  • Indoor live events
  • Bingo halls
  • Theatres, music venues
  • Indoor gyms
  • Adult outdoor contact sports
  • Driving lessons
