Coronavirus lockdown may see Aaron Ramsey miss Wales games

Aaron Ramsey could miss Wales' friendlies this month due to the coronavirus lockdown in Italy.

The entire country has now been placed under extraordinary measures as the government attempts to stop the spread of the virus that has killed nearly 500 Italians.

The Football Association of Wales has indicated Juventus midfielder Ramsey, who is one of Wales' most influential players, will be guided by the Italian authorities on whether he can travel for the games, according to the BBC.

The FAW will assess the situation before Ryan Giggs announces his squad for the upcoming home games.

Wales have two friendlies scheduled against Austria at the Liberty Stadium on March 27, and against the USA at Cardiff City Stadium on March 30.

On Monday, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte ordered people to stay home and seek permission for essential travel as the country extended its emergency measures to the entire country.

Meanwhile more matches have been postponed in the Six Nations due to coronavirus ahead of the final weekend but  Wales' Cardiff clash with Scotland will go ahead as things stand.

The France v Ireland match in Paris has been postponed -  follows earlier steps to postpone the Ireland v Italy and Italy v England fixtures.
