Covid norm violations: Over 3.15 lakh people fined in Delhi between Apr. 19-Nov. 8
Over 3.15 lakh people were fined between April 19 and November 8 for violating of Covid-related norms, of which the highest were for not wearing face masks, police said on Tuesday.
According to the latest data shared by the Delhi Police, 3,15,772 challans were issued for such violations during this period.
The data showed that 2,79,198 people were fined for not wearing masks, followed by 30,379 for not adhering to social distancing norms and 3,046 for consumption of liquor, pan and tobacco at public places.
Another 1,685 challans were issued for spitting in public places and 1,464 for holding large public gatherings and congregations, the data stated.- PTI
Karnataka exempts Maharashtra visitors from RT-PCR negative certificate
Those who visit Karnataka from Maharashtra for short duration need not produce negative RT-PCR certificates. The State Government has exempted those who visit Karnataka for two days or less from producing such certificates. However, they must have two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and follow COVID-19 protocol.
During the meeting of the State advisory committee on COVID-19 in Bengaluru on November 6, norms were amended to allow visits of short duration following reduction of cases in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
The new norm will apply for people who arrive in Karnataka by road, rail or air, and who return to Maharashtra in two days.

Chinese city offers cash for clues in Covid 'people's war'
A Covid-hit Chinese city is offering thousands of dollars for anyone giving clues in tracing the source of its latest outbreak, as part of a "people's war" to stamp out one of the country's largest resurgences in months.
China reported 43 local cases on Tuesday in a Delta-driven surge that has fanned out to 20 provinces and regions, keeping new case numbers in the double-digits over the past three weeks.
"In order to uncover the source of this virus outbreak as soon as possible and find out the chain of transmission, it is necessary to wage a people's war of epidemic prevention and control," the city government said in a notice.
Officials said cases of smuggling, illegal hunting and cross-border fishing should be reported immediately, adding that those who have bought imported goods online ought to "immediately sterilise" them and send them for tests.- AFP
U.K. to add Covaxin to approved list from Nov. 22
The UK government has said that India's Covaxin will be added to its list of approved COVID-19 vaccines for international travellers from November 22, meaning that those inoculated with the Bharat Biotech-manufactured jab will not have to self-isolate after arrival in England.
The move follows the World Health Organisation's (WHO) Emergency Use Listing for Covaxin, which is the second most used formulation in India.
Covishield, the India-manufactured Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, was added to the UK's approved list last month. - PTI
Active COVID-19 cases in country lowest in 263 days
India logged 10,126 new coronavirus infections, the lowest in 266 days, while the active cases dipped to 1,40,638, the lowest in 263 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.
With the fresh cases, the country's total tally of COVID-19 cases climbed to 3,43,77,113.
The death toll climbed to 4,61,389 with 332 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 a.m.- PTI
Rajasthan govt. allows academic activities with 100% capacity in schools, colleges
The Rajasthan government has given permission to conduct academic activities in universities, colleges, schools and coaching institutes with 100% capacity in view of decline in COVID-19 cases, according to a home department's order issued on Monday.
The classroom activities are being conducted with 50% capacity at present.
The home department issued guidelines on Monday allowing 100% seating capacity from November 15.
All the coaching institutes of the state will also be able to operate with 100% capacity from November 15 with the mandatory requirement of both doses of COVID-19 vaccine for their academic and non-teaching staff, according to the order.- PTI
Denmark brings COVID-19 curbs back after just two months
Denmark will re-introduce a health pass because of a sharp rise in COVID-19 infections, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Monday, less than two months after scrapping controls.
The Epidemic Commission has recommended the government classify the coronavirus as a "socially threatening disease" and re-impose the pass, Mr. Frederiksen told journalists.
In Denmark, with a population of 5.8 million, 85.9% of people over the age of 12 have been fully vaccinated.- AFP
Himachal schools to reopen for classes 1 to 7
The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to reopen schools, which were closed in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, for classes 1 to 7, an official spokesperson said on Monday.
The decision to reopen schools was taken in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here on Monday. The schools from class 8 and above have already reopened in the State.
It was decided in the meeting to reopen schools for students of classes 3 to 7 from November 10 and for students of classes 1 and 2 from November 15, the spokesperson said.
The cabinet also decided to resume transport buses with full capacity instead of the earlier 50% norms, he added.- PTI
