Coronavirus leads to closures of 17 Greater Glasgow and Clyde hospital wards

17 hospital wards across Greater Glasgow and Clyde have been closed to new admissions because of coronavirus.

The NHS are treating 609 covid-19 patients in the region, with more than half of Scotland's coronavirus patients in the area, reports the BBC.

It's also understood NHSGGC have reported 21 'significant incidents' of healthcare acquired infections to Public Health Scotland.

Latest Scottish Government statistics show 1,100 people are currently in hospitals across Scotland with covid-19.

Of that figure, 82 people are in intensive care.

25 deaths were also sadly recorded within the last 24 hour period.
