Coronavirus latest: Nine more positive tests in Ayrshire and Arran as Scots death toll hits 14


Another nine people have tested positive for coronavirus in Ayrshire and Arran during the last 24 hours.

The Scottish Government's confirmation means that the total number of confirmed people with the deadly virus in the region has risen to 34.

It comes as the number of fatalities from the disease in Scotland rose by four to 14 overnight.

A total of 499 people have now tested positive in Scotland - a daily rise of 83.

The latest figure comes after the government shut down pubs, cafes, restaurants and leisure centres across the UK in a bid to tackle Covid-19.

So far 9364 tests have been conducted in Scotland with 8865 of them coming back as negative.

The breakdown is as follows:  Ayrshire and Arran, 34,  Borders, 12, Dumfries and Galloway, 18, Fife, 19, Forth Valley, 40, Grampian, 24, Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 152, Highland, 12, Lanarkshire, 58, Lothian, 59, Shetland, 24 and Tayside 47.
