Coronavirus: Last Leg's last live show airs without audience - and replaced with canned laughter

Late night chat show The Last Leg aired its final live show of the series tonight but without a studio audience.

The Channel 4 comedy series, which is presented by comedians Adam Hill, Josh Widdicombe, and Alex Brooker, usually has a host of fans providing live reactions to the on-air quips.

However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping the globe and the strict measures in place regarding social distancing due to it, instead The Last Leg opted for canned laughter in the series finale.

ITV favourite Lorraine Kelly made an appearance in the episode, which would wave goodbye to the lads for some time.

The change-up to the format as a result of the COVID-19 crisis didn't dampen viewers' love of the show.

One viewer wrote on Twitter : "Tonight’s #lastleg was excellent; the most uplifting, yet weirdly serious thing I’ve watched all week. Thanks @adamhillscomedy @joshwiddicombe @alex_brooker. See you next series."

Another fan commented: "Thank you @adamhillscomedy @joshwiddicombe @alex_brooker and the crew of #lastleg @Channel4 @ComedyOn4 for still making us laugh during this awful time #SocialDistanacing #CoronaCrisis "

A third echoed a similar sentiment, writing: " @adamhillscomedy thanks for tonight you and the folks made me laugh like a seal safe travels and be safe #lastleg "

Elsewhere, a different viewer tweeted on how the end of the episode really got to them.

"Genuinely cried at the end of that last leg episode what the f**k is happening," they revealed.

Finally, one viewer was equally sad to see the lads wave goodbye for now: "Cor the ending to The Last Leg actually fully choked me up #thelastleg #scarytimes "

We could all do with some laughter right now!
