Coronavirus: Kilmarnock school closes for deep clean because staff and parents are self isolating

A Kilmarnock school is being deep cleaned today because staff and parents are currently self-islolating.

The Kilmarnock Standard told you yesterday that Willowbank School would be closed today and tomorrow as a precautionary measure.

The chairperson of the school's parent council has revealed that some staff and parents are taking precautions amid coronavirus fears.

It's expected that the school will reopen on Wednesday.

A statement from Willowbank's parent council chairperson Jayne Sangster said: "Just to update all parents. The school has been closed for a deep clean as purely a precautionary measure.

"This has been due to the fact that some members of staff and parents are self isolating according to national guidelines. There has been no confirmed case of Coronavirus with anyone associated with the school.

"The school appreciates everyone’s co-operation and understanding through this process.

"I would respectfully request again that comments be kept to a minimum and that any speculative comments will be removed.

"Any queries that any parent has can be directed to the school where the SMT will be happy to answer any questions."
