Coronavirus: Kerry Katona says schools can 'send her to court' as she keeps kids at home

Kerry Katona has urged schools to 'send her to court' as she revealed she's keeping her kids at home amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The mum-of-five took to Instagram in response to a government press conference yesterday where Boris Johnson told the nation schools would remain open - but advised people to avoid mass gatherings.

Kerry, 39, joined many parents criticising the decision and told her 590k followers on Instagram that she'd decided to go against the guidelines.

Posting a picture of children in uniform heading to class the mum sarcastically quipped: "But hey kids you have a good day at school!!!!"

She added that one of her children has a really low immune system and is 'always so poorly' and she didn't want to take a risk.

"Send me to court but I’m pulling my kids out!!!!" she fired.

Alongside it Kerry shared a meme of a man wearing a full body suit and mask with the caption: "I'm gong to the store. Do you want anything?"

Kerry had been due to appear at Brighton's Magistrates' Court last October over a child truancy case but the case was dropped at the last minute as new evidence was submitted.

The child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, didn’t go to school between October 31 and November 28 2018.

Katona, of Crowborough, East Sussex, had pleaded not guilty at a pre-trial hearing on July 31 last year.

Defending Katona, Jason La Corbiniere said at the time there was no dispute that the child in question didn’t attend school, but said it was due to illness.

Yesterday, Kerry appeared on Loose Women with her eldest daughter Molly, 18, and told how she feared the global coronavirus pandemic would leave her stranded in the Maldives.

Kerry jetted off to the idyllic location with boyfriend Ryan Maloney earlier this month.

"Honestly, I had a bit of a panic attack the last three days [about getting home], I got really anxious," Kerry admitted.

"As much as I complain, you know what it's like being a mum, the kids are driving me crazy, I want a bit of a break, the last three days I started getting really bad anxiety.

"We had a mix up with the plane and I burst into tears and said "I just want to go home."
