Coronavirus: Jamie Oliver to share 'store cupboard' recipes in new cooking show

Jamie Oliver will be teaching the nation how to eat well during the coronavirus pandemic in a new Channel 4 show.

The show is named 'Jamie: Keep Cooking and Carry On' and will see the TV chef create easy recipes specially tailored in response to the global crisis.

Set to air in just a matter of days on March 23, bread dough and pasta recipes will also feature in a response to the shocking amount of panic buying sweeping the country.

The 44-year-old cooking guru will also show people how to utilise ingredients they already have at home - in a bid to stem ongoing stockpiling in the nation's supermarkets.

"Cooking nutritious meals for yourself and your loved ones has never been more important, "Olivier said when the show was announced.

"This show will be packed with easy and delicious recipes that the whole family can enjoy, plus loads of tips, tricks and hacks for simple swaps and ways you can make the recipes work with what you've got.

"Let's big up those store cupboard and freezer faves and hero recipes you can take lots of ways."

The cooking supreme and his team teamed up with Channel 4 and have created the show in rapid time following thousands of requests for culinary inspiration.

“The show is a direct response to thousands of requests we have been receiving from people who are looking for some inspiration and assurance to help them through this difficult time — and Jamie is a trusted voice to deliver that,” Zoe Collins of the Jamie Oliver Group said.

As of March 23, families will be faced the new hurdle of feeding their kids throughout the day as schools close indefinately.

At the same time, supermarkets have been forced to ration products as panicked buyers still continue to place their interests above that of their communies.

In such unprecedented times, Jamie hopes to bring the nation together in the kitchen and inspire viewers to eat well.

As the nation settles in for self-isolation, Jamie's new cooking show will be keeping Brits entertained and informed every night for the upcoming week.

Jamie: Keep Cooking and Carry on starts 17.30, Monday 23rd March on Channel 4
