Coronavirus: Irish legend Don Conroy launches YouTube channel to help people get 'creative'

Irish legend Don Conroy has launched a YouTube Channel to help people get “creative” during lockdown.

The Irish artist and TV personality and children’s book writer announced encouraging his fans and followers to be ‘creative together’.

Taking to Twitter to share the good news Conroy revealed that he was launching the channel “due to popular demand, of course”.

Conroy’s first video shows you how to draw a clown with a simple step by step process.

He explanined: “We all need a little bit of cheering up”.

“Today I’m going to teach you how to draw a clown.

“All you will need is a piece of paper and a pencil and you’ll be ready to draw.

“So let’s stay safe and stay creative together!,” he wrote.

In the first few hours of the video’s posting, it had already racked up over 15,000 thousands of views and almost 5,000 subscribers.

Meanwhile, nostalgic fans and budding artists have been reacting with joy to the news on Twitter, with one person declaring: “Welcome back into my life. Draw with Don is etched in my brain forever.”

Don was a staple amongst Irish households in the 90s with regular appearances on RTÉ’s The Den since it began in 1986.

He also played an important part in a highly successful project to reintroduce the golden eagle to Ireland.
