Coronavirus Ireland updates as 1,345 cases reported

A total of 1,345 cases of COVID-19 have been reported by health officials in Ireland.

A total of 105 people are in hospital with 21 in ICU.

Public health czars have intervened to order that all customers in pubs and restaurants must give their contact details to management from next week.

They are part of the new guidelines for the reopening of indoor drinking and dining that will go ahead now from Monday.

Restaurants Association of Ireland (RAI) chief executive, Adrian Cummins, said it was “public health” that had insisted on the latest names and numbers admin instructions.

Other conditions for the safe resumption of indoor dining for people vaccinated and recovered from Covid include distances of at least one metre between tables and 11:30pm closing times.

There will also be an exemption for unvaccinated children to be in bars and restaurants if they are with a parent or guardian.
