Coronavirus Ireland update: What time will new cases and deaths be announced today?

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan will host Wednesday evening's briefing on the latest coronavirus cases and figures in the Republic of Ireland.

As with every day the briefing will allow the media ask questions about the latest Covid-19 updates and where Ireland is with easing restrictions.

On Tuesday a further 59 deaths and 229 cases were announced by the National Public Health Emergency Team.

The Republic of Ireland now has 19,877 confirmed cases of the virus while the death toll now stands at 1,159.

Here's all you need to know about today's announcement;

What time will the announcement be made?

Today's briefing will take place at the later time of 8pm from the Department of Health buildings.

It usually takes place at around 5:30pm so you won't get the figures on RTE's Six One News or Virgin Media News at 5:30pm this evening.

You can however follow all the updates on the Irish Mirror.

Who will be speaking?

Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronan Glynn, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health and Dr Siobhan Ni Bhriain, Consultant Psychiatrist and HSE Integrated Care Lead will all be present to speak to the public.

The daily briefing is streamed live on RTE News Now and also on Virgin Media News' social media channels.
