Coronavirus Ireland: Two men in east of country become fifth and sixth victims of disease

Two men have become the latest victims of the coronavirus in the Republic of Ireland.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre was today informed of the tragic passing of the two Covid-19 patients, who were in the east of the country.

The Department of Health was not aware whether they had underlying medical conditions.

There have now been six coronavirus-related deaths in the Republic of Ireland.

219 new cases were detected and announced today.

The total for the Republic now stands at 1,125.
