Coronavirus Ireland today: What time will new Covid-19 cases and deaths be announced?

Ireland's latest coronavirus case figures and death toll will be announced later today as the numbers surge above 3,000.

The overall number of confirmed cases stands at 3,235 after 325 new positive tests were announced on Tuesday evening.

Over 30,200 people in Ireland were tested for the coronavirus as of midnight on Monday.

The positivity rate has increased from 6% to 15%, due to the changes in what was required of people asking for a test.

Here's all you need to know about when the latest Republic of Ireland figures will be announced.

What time will Ireland's latest cases be announced?

The latest Department of Health briefing will take place at 5:30pm on Wednesday, April 1 from their offices in Dublin.

Dr Tony Holohan, who usually leads the meetings, is in hospital for non Covid-19 related tests, and will not chair tonight's briefing.

Instead, his Deputy Dr Ronan Glynn will step into the role, with Mr Holohan expected to return to work tomorrow.

Dr Colm Henry, Chief Clinical Officer, HSE and Dr Cillian De Gascun, Director of the National Virus Reference Laboratory, will also attend tonight's briefing.
