Coronavirus Ireland today: 19 more deaths and 330 new cases announced

A further 19 people have died from coronavirus in the Republic of Ireland with another 330 new cases confirmed.

The Department of Health confirmed via a press release on Sunday afternoon.

There have now been a total 1,303 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.

This comes after the HSE pledged anew that 100,000 tests would be carried out weekly, beginning the week of May 18.

And significantly, Paul Reid promised that there would be a three-day turnaround from the time a person contacts the HSE to when they get the result.

At the HSE’s weekly press briefing today (SUN), Mr Reid said: “We all know that in the absence of a vaccine or a cure for Covid-19, a sustainable contact testing and tracing system and process is really needed. There’s nobody more committed to delivering this than the HSE.
