A three-month-old baby who thankfully tested negative for the deadly coronavirus became Ireland's youngest ever suspected patient on Monday.
The infant and her mother, Aoife Somers, were forced into isolation in Tallaght Hospital over the weekend in what their grandmother described as a terrifying ordeal
Little girl, Shauna, was showing the symptoms of the killer COVID-19 bug with the poor baby struggling with a dry cough, fever and unable to catch her breath - Dublin Live reports.
After hours of expecting the worst news imaginable that a mum could receive, grandmother Lisa Brady was happy to announce that Shauna's tests had came back negative.
Speaking on Twitter, Lisa said: "I've been isolated in Tallaght Hospital for the last three days and its been the scariest experience so far.
"This is my daughter who is 3-months-old, she is currently Ireland's youngest person to be tested for COVID-19.
"Thank God her results came back today and she tested negative but the next person might not be so lucky.
"So I'm asking you all to please share this to raise awareness of just how serious this virus is, children CAN catch this virus but thankfully none have just yet.
"Please everyone follow the guidelines, wash your hands, isolate yourself and your family as much as possible and if you must go out do not bring your children."
She added: "I can't thank you all enough for raising awareness of this awful virus.
"Shauna's symptoms included: Dry cough, a fever and really struggling to catch her breath.
"Anyone in any doubt please contact the HSE's helpline for advice."
