Coronavirus Ireland: Superstar Miley Cyrus tweets Leo Varadkar citing Black Lives Matter in global COVID-19 plea

US superstar Miley Cyrus has tweeted Taoiseach Leo Varadkar asking Ireland to join the Global Goal Unite initiative.

Singer Cyrus cited Irish people's efforts in supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and says "we must stay united".

The Wrecking Ball star tweeted the Dublin West TD saying: "All across Ireland citizens joined in solidarity with Black Lives Matter in the US.

"We must stay united with the world to tackle #COVID19 and the racial injustice of health inequalities. Please join us, PM Leo Varadkar? #Globalgoalunite."

The initiative the Hannah Montana actor wants Ireland to be a part of hopes to support all people in the battle against Covid-19.

Information on the official website states: "A safe, swift recovery from COVID-19 must protect the most vulnerable and requires global cooperation.

"Funding for tests, treatments and vaccines against COVID-19 that can reach everyone is urgently needed.

"Call on European leaders to ensure fair and equal global access to tests and treatments against COVID-19."

The Taoiseach is yet to respond to the superstar.
