Six elderly residents who tested positive for coronavirus in one Dublin nursing home have all tragically died.
The home is one of 67 nursing homes in Ireland that are currently battling clusters of the killer COVID-19 bug.
It is understood that the staff, who are "doing all they can" according to one family member, are struggling to contain the outbreak.
Workers there are crying out for more personal protective equipment to prevent further deaths, The Irish Independent reports this morning.
Yesterday was another record day for deaths in the country as 36 more people were revealed to have died from coronavirus.
Some 24 of them were reported as having underlying health conditions.
There were 345 new cases reported as of 1pm yesterday compared with 370 cases the day before - despite testing being ramped up in recent days according to the Government.
Amongst the new cases 46% are male while 53% are female with 270 clusters involving 1,103 cases.
1,345 cases (24%) have been hospitalised and of those hospitalised 194 were admitted to ICU.
Healthcare workers accounted for 1,368 of the patients.
Community transmission accounts for 67%, while close contact accounts for 22%, and travel abroad accounts for just 10%.
