Coronavirus Ireland: Sinn Fein's Mary Lou McDonald getting 'head cold' checked by GP and misses Dail meeting

Sinn Fein President Mary Lou McDonald will not be present in the Dáil this morning due to a head cold.

The Dublin Central TD said she would be contacting her GP later today and urged members of the Irish public to stay safe amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Donegal TD and Sinn Fein's negotiation team leader Pearse Doherty will lead the party's charge today as the Dáil meets to deal with more emergency COVID-19 legislation.

“Woke up this morning with a head cold,” she tweeted.

“Talking to my GP later. For now lying low, staying home.

“Over to Pearse Doherty to lead the charge at today’s Dail sitting. Stay safe everyone.”

McDonald's children were previously in self-isolation after a student at their school, Scoil Catriona in Glasnevin, was one of the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.
