Coronavirus Ireland: 'Significant increase' in dog poo in Dublin's parks during COVID-19 lockdown

A 'significant increase' in dog poo in Dublin's parks has led to local councils urging people to keep the parks clean.

Dublin City Council and Fingal County Council have both called on citizens to clean up after their pets and keep the parks clean.

And Fingal County Council have doubled the number of dog wardens in their parks to crack down on the poo plague.

The council said: "We have noticed a significant increase in dog fouling and dogs being walked off leads in public areas.

"In response to the ongoing problems, we are are doubling the number of dog wardens from two to four.

"We are urging everyone to play their part in keeping our environment clean."

Dublin City Council reminding owners that cleaning up the poo is their responsibility.

Dublin City Council said: "There has been an increase in the amount of dog poo in our parks and open spaces.

"If you are a dog owner it is your responsibility to clean up your dog poo.

"If there is no bin available, bring it home and dispose of it."
