Robbie and Claudine Keane were among the many people to hail the heroic medical staff on the frontline in the battle against coronavirus.
The Republic of Ireland's leading all-time goalscorer, his wife and their two children applauded the HSE staff in a post on Claudine's Instagram story.
The former footballer said: "I just want to thank you on behalf of myself and my family.
"All the doctors, the nurses, the carers, everybody associated with the hospitals.
"Putting your lives at risk to save ours. We really appreciate it."
Claudine added: "Thank you so much. You're an inspiration to us all.
"We appreciate you so so much. Thank you for putting your lives on the line to keep us safe.
"We really appreciate it."
People across Ireland applauded medical staff at 8pm on Thursday.
