Coronavirus Ireland: Party organisers to be hit with €500 fines as new regulations confirmed

A new raft of fines aimed at coronavirus rule breakers are now in force with party organisers facing punishments of €500.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly signed the regulations this afternoon although the new system of fines has been in place since Sunday.

Gardai now have the power to issue on the spot penalties of €150 to anyone who is caught attending a house party while organisers will be given the higher fine.

Not wearing a facemask on public transport is now an offence punishable by an €80 on the spot fine.

A fine of €100 is now in place for people who are caught leaving the 5km travel limit without an acceptable excuse.
