Over half of all of Ireland's COVID-19 patients have fully recovered, according to new data released today.
The National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed that 55% of all of Ireland's COVID-19 cases in the community have beaten the killer bug.
Out of 15,186 cases, 8,377 have recovered from coronavirus in the Republic in the community.
A further 836 cases in hospitals were later added to that figure by Dr Tony Holohan, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,233.
However officials from the Department of Health have confirmed that 44 more people have sadly died from COVID-19.
Thirty-seven deaths were in the east of the country, 2 in the west, 2 in the north-west, and 3 in the south.
The deaths included 26 females and 18 males, the median age of today’s reported deaths is 87, and 33 deaths are reported to have an underlying health condition.
A further 388 cases of the deadly bug have also been confirmed, bringing the country’s total cases to 16,040.
111,584 COVID-19 tests have been carried out and completed as of midnight on Monday.
Over the past week, 20,822 tests have been carried out with 4,025 positive, equalling a positivity rate of 19%.
