Coronavirus Ireland: New website StuffUNeed delivering essential items and grocery goods to Dubliners during COVID-19 lockdown

A new shopping service has been launched to get essential items and household goods to Dubliners’ doors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

StuffUNeed is offering an additional grocery delivery service during the coronavirus crisis, delivering items to customers’ doors within 48 hours through contactless delivery.

They have hired 10 hospitality staff who lost their jobs to COVID-19, with plans to expand their numbers by another 20 in the coming weeks.

Co-founder Sebastien Conway said: “There’s never been a more challenging time for small businesses, in particular in the food and drinks sector. We recognise that social distancing has made regular grocery shopping difficult for many in our community and we want to do what we can to help.

“Our aim with this site is to offer an additional grocery delivery option – lessening the need for people to leave their homes unnecessarily – while also giving producers a new platform to continue their trading.

“We currently offer a range of items from local producers and our aim is to continue building on this in the coming weeks.

They plan to support local suppliers and producers by reconnecting them with their usual customer base.

The delivery website is currently focused on the South Dublin area and will expand to greater Dublin over time.

Sebastien added: "The response to date has been overwhelmingly positive from both customers and producers, who have reconnected through the platform, and we’re immensely proud to serve the public, the industry and provide employment during this time.

“As we grow, we’re looking to expand our offering and build out the number of local suppliers whose goods are available on the site. We want to do our small part to encourage people to stay safe, stay at home and let them know that we will deliver the stuff you need.”

The site launched by hospitality professionals currently delivers products from businesses like Bretzel Bakery, Rohans Sauces and Openhive Honey, with more being added every day.

They also want more local producers to get involved and reconnect with their customers. This can be done by contacting suppliers@stuffuneed.ie
