The Department of Health announced on Monday night that there has been another 54 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Ireland.
This new figure now brings the total number of cases to 223 with a major spike of affected patients in the east of the country.
A frightening 75% of the new cases are associated with the east with 41 recorded there, 11 in the south of the country and two more in the north-west.
This again follows on from the huge surge in cases in the east of the country at the weekend.
79 new cases were confirmed in the Republic of Ireland on Saturday and Sunday with the east of the country seeing 46 of these.
Meaning 87 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the east of the country in the last three days.
The South has seen 30 more cases while the north-west has jumped by five while west is up by 11.
There has also been considerably more men that women contracting the virus in the last three days with 82 men getting the dreaded Covid-19 compared to 51 women.
And unfortunately the numbers are expected to keep on rising in the next few weeks with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar expecting about 15,000 cases before the end of the month.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said he expects an "exponential rise" in confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Republic every day for the next couple of weeks.
He said there could be 15,000 by the end of March.
He added that most people will not require a stay in hospital but some will require intensive or critical care.
"The objective is to flatten the curve but the curve has to rise exponentially before it decreases," the Taoiseach said.
