The LE Samuel Beckett is to go operational on the River Liffey as a testing centre for the coronavirus.
The ship is to begin testing people who may have contracted Covid-19.
The HSE will hold a press conference alongside the Irish Naval Service on Sunday morning to announce the news.
It comes as three people have died from the coronavirus in Ireland, with a total of 683 confirmed cases in the Republic - as of Friday.
LE Samuel Beckett will be docked on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay on the banks of the River Liffey in Dublin city.
Work has been underway on the quays to set up the ship with adequate power and lighting as it prepares to test potential patients of the virus.
The ship, named after Irish playwright Samuel Beckett, was launched in November 2013 and commissioned in May 2014.
