Coronavirus Ireland latest victim died in nursing home while waiting over a week for COVID-19 test results to come back

The latest Irish victim of COVID-19 died in a nursing home last night while waiting for tests results, more than one week after a swab was taken.

It is understood that the patient was tested for coronavirus on March 23 and was awaiting confirmation of the deadly bug but died late on Tuesday night.

The patient's doctor said that although the test results had not come back as positive or negative yet, the victim will now have to be treated as a positive case by the funeral home according to a report by RTE News.

Strict precautions will now be in place for any upcoming funeral or service as recommended in recent guidelines.
