A further 89 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Ireland today.
There has been one more death announced today.
So far, there have been 29,114 cases of the coronavirus in Ireland since the pandemic began.
While 1,777 people have sadly lost their lives due to the disease.
Of the cases notified today:
- 40 are men / 48 are women
- 63% are under 45 years of age
- 56% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case
- 8 cases have been identified as community transmission
- 53 in Dublin, 15 in Limerick, and the remaining 21 cases are Clare, Cork, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Leitrim, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow.
The news comes as cases were confirmed in a second Dublin school and the site of the new National Children's Hospital.
The popular Jobstown House pub in Tallaght has also been forced to close after a staff member tested positive for the virus.
The Drinks Industry Group of Ireland (DIGI) said they welcomed Justice Minister Helen McEntee's comments on Radio One this morning, where she said new roadmap would be explored on September 13 for the re-opening of wet pubs.
DIGI say a debate on reopening pubs is a priority in order to provide jobs, save businesses, and revive rural communities.
