A total of 1,456 new cases of COVID-19 were announced by health officials in Ireland.
Some 261 people are in hospital with 66 in ICU.
Dr Paul Reid said: "Thankfully the hospitalised Covid-19 patients are now down to 261 & falling. ICU cases are rising , with a hugely disproportionate number of unvaccinated patients. It's never too late to be vaccinated & our commitment stands,to never leave anyone behind. It works."
