Coronavirus Ireland: Large Meath school with over 1000 students confirms Covid-19 case

A large Meath school with over 1,000 students has confirmed a Covid-19 case.

A child at St Peter's College in Dunboyne has tested positive for coronavirus, it has emerged.

The school currently has approximately 1,150 students enrolled.

School officials said that they had been notified of the positive test yesterday morning.

They insisted all close contacts of the confirmed case had been identified and have since been informed.

Principal Deirdre Maye told parents and guardians that there had been no overlap between year groups on the school campus, and that students in the affected year group could contact her for advice.

HSE guidelines state that any students who are not deemed to be close contacts do not need to take a test, and can continue to attend school as normal.

However parents were warned that any children who develop symptoms of Covid-19 must restrict their movements, and contact their GPs.

The school added that all HSE advice has been followed since the case was confirmed.
