Coronavirus Ireland: IT company donate hundreds of face shields after Dublin donations drive

An online recruitment platform for IT contractors has donated hundreds of face-shields to homeless people, healthcare workers and emergency services personnel.

Techfynder recently hosted a city-wide face shields donation drive in Dublin.

The face-coverings were given out to homeless shelters, grocery stores, healthcare workers, gardai and communities.

Techfynder decided to donate face shields to grocery stores as they believe employees need to be protected now more than ever.

The reusable shields feature curved plastic that covers the forehead, eyes, nose and mouth and are typically used by medical workers.

A company spokeswoman said: "The homeless are among one of the most vulnerable groups of people impacted by Covid-19."

To address the urgent need of the homeless community, Techfynder decided to donate face shields to homeless workers and homeless individuals helping them get some basic protection from infection.

"Masks were donated to Simon Community who are working around the clock to provide a safe environment for homeless individuals.

"Additionally, masks were also donated to brave healthcare workers who face this pandemic head on.

"PPE is vital for our healthcare providers to perform their jobs safely not just in protecting themselves but all our patients and loved ones too."
