Coronavirus Ireland: HSE social distancing guidelines for inside, outside, walks and when at the beach

Gardai have had to close down beaches and people are up in arms over the droves of crowds meeting at outdoor spots across Ireland.

Over in the UK Boris Johnson reminded people that fresh air offers no immunity from the spread of coronavirus so meeting outdoors is no better than indoors - and the same applies here.

Of course people are allowed to get out of the house and go for a walk, run or trip to the beach - but social distancing still has to be implemented.

Here is the social distancing guidelines from the HSE for wherever you are going.

  • Distance yourself at least 2 metres (6 feet) away from other people
  • Small group sizes should be kept to a minimum
  • Don’t arrange to meet up with other groups

  • Avoid an area if it looks very busy and go somewhere else for your walk
