Coronavirus Ireland: How Dublin compares to the six counties best placed to leave lockdown as Ireland reaches two week mark

Dublin is still some way off the six best-performing counties that are in the best shape to exit lockdown in December.

Ireland is now a fortnight into a six-week Level Five lockdown that is due to end on December 1.

Health officials have warned that an early exit is not likely, as they want to ensure we push the daily cases count as low as possible before the festive season.

However some concern has been raised about Dublin, as the capital is proving stubborn when it comes to reducing the levels of the virus.

The 14-day incidence rate of confirmed cases per 100,000 population is one of the key metrics used by experts to determine how severe Covid-19 outbreaks are.

This remains quite high in some areas, such as Cavan and Meath, but is now very low in a number of other counties.

The six areas with rates under 150 include:

1. Leitrim - 84.3

2. Wicklow - 106.7

3. Tipperary - 131.0

4. Kilkenny - 134.0

5. Offaly - 136.0

6. Wexford - 140.3

Here is a full county-by-county incidence rate list:
