An Post previously announced that they would implement a series of new services to help people during the coronavirus pandemic.
Among the new measures announced, workers will now take parcels and letters from the elderly and vulnerable, amounting to some 160,000 homes, and deliver them for free.
Post men and post women are also set to check in on elderly and vulnerable people cocooning during the outbreak.

How do I use the new check-in service?
As of Monday, April 6 An Post is allowing families to 'request a check in' from a post office or post woman to check in on an elderly or vulnerable family member who may be cocooning.
Post men and women will then call in while on their regular routes to see if they need help, and even contact the charity Alone if more assistance is needed.
You can request a check-in simply by heading to the community support section of An Post's website here and fill in the address and eircode of the home you want to be checked.
How much does it cost?
An Post's check-in service is totally free and won't cost you a single penny.
An Post managing director Garret Bridgeman said: "Working with our dedicated and trusted staff, and the Communications Workers Union, we are delighted to put this new facility in place free-of-charge free, combining the digital and physical delivery sides of the business for the common good."
How can I sign up to get my newspaper delivered?
An Post has also rolled out its newspaper delivery service whereby people can get same day deliverly of their local or national newspaper of choice.

Garrett Bridgeman added: "Staying connected as we remain apart is important for everybody, so having the national or local paper to read is a real practical support and comfort to customers of all ages.
“We’ve worked at speed with the national and local newspapers to put this countrywide service in place. While delivery services already exist in some urban areas, An Post newspaper delivery will be of particular interest to rural customers.
“Customers can sign up for several national and many local papers from today (Monday) at anpost.com. More national and local newspapers will join the scheme over the coming weeks.
Will this service also be free?
Deliveries will be free-of-charge for older and vulnerable customers currently ‘cocooning’ during the Covid 19 crisis.
