Coronavirus Ireland: Hopeful update for Dublin hospitals as 'end of pandemic period' may be near

The number of patients hospitalised with COVID-19 in Dublin has dropped as a top doctor has issued a promising update.

Professor Philip Nolan said last night the continued fall in hospital admissions was a "sign that we are coming to the end of this period of the pandemic”.

The number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals in Ireland fell below 500 yesterday - the lowest it has been since New Year's Eve.

There were 230 people hospitalised with coronavirus in Dublin last night down from 238 on Sunday.

Here is the full breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Dublin hospitals as of 8 pm last night:
