Coronavirus Ireland: Hilarious video shows residents in Dublin flat complex playing outdoor bingo

The country may be in near-total lockdown as we battle against coronavirus but that wasn't going to stop a group of bingo lovers in a Dublin flat complex from enjoying their regular game.

With the likes of bingo halls closed and the Government advising us all to maintain social distance in a bid to beat the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic, residents of the flats in Ringsend staged a massive outdoor bingo game yesterday.

Hilarious footage emerged last night of the bingo caller perched on a wall facing the flats with a speaker system, calling out numbers while the players stood on their balconies checking off their cards.

The video went down a storm on Twitter where users praised the community spirit shown.

Lynn Zachariades said: "Meanwhile in Dublin....Italy and France with their fancy opera singing have nothing on Isolation Bingo"

Maeve Louise Heaney wrote:" In Italy they sing opera from the balconies. Dublin plays bingo. Love my country."

John O'Brennan added: "Singing Italians, ya said? Dublin sees ya, and raises ya, via Community Bingo."

And comedian Dara O Briain even tweeted the video to his 2.5 million followers, saying: "I just want to celebrate how funny Irish people are. Lots of love to you all x."

A further 126 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the Republic of Ireland yesterday, bringing the total to 683.

Three people have sadly died from the deadly respiratory illness.
