Coronavirus Ireland: 'High degree of caution' advised before travel to any EU countries, Government says

The Government is now advising a "high degree of caution" before deciding to travel to any EU countries.

The new notice notably leaves out the UK, which has seen a rise in cases but is taking a less draconian approach to fighting the spread of coronavirus than Ireland.

Currently the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's key Covid-19 travel advice states that people should not travel to Italy, and avoid non-essential travel to China, Iran and Spain.

Tanaiste Simon Coveney tweeted this evening: "NB TRAVEL ADVICE: In light of rapidly changing conditions & restrictions across a number of EU countries, my Dept is now advising people to exercise “a high degree of caution” before deciding to travel to other EU States.

"We will continue to update advice."
