Coronavirus Ireland: Healthcare worker at Dublin nursing home becomes one of Covid-19's youngest victims

A Dublin healthcare worker in her 30s has become one of the youngest people to die from Covid-19 in Ireland.

The female staff member who worked at a nursing home in the capital is understood to have died from the cruel virus in the last week.

The woman is said to be in her early 30s and her tragic passing has shocked her fellow colleagues, Dublin Live reports.

Both the HSE and National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) have been providing assistance to the facility since the tragic death.

It is now feared that there may be even more confirmed cases of the virus among residents and staff in the home.

Dublin Live has contacted the nursing home for further comment.

The woman is one of the 769 people who have sadly lost their life to Covid-19 in Ireland to date.

Officials from the Department of Health confirmed last night that 49 more people have passed away as a result of coronavirus.

As well as this, a further 631 cases of the deadly bug have also been confirmed, bringing the country's total cases to 16,671.

But a story that might shine a glimmer of hope is that of Dublin granddad Conor Cleary who has been released from hospital after 26 days in ICU battling coronavirus.

The 59-year-old spent almost a month in St Vincent’s Hospital on life support with Covid-19 and his delighted family gathered to cheer his victory yesterday afternoon.

His relieved daughter, Rachel, praised the frontline staff at the hospital who saved her dad’s life, calling them heroes.
