Coronavirus Ireland: Gin distillery in Drogheda, Co Louth selling alcohol-based hand sanitiser for €6

A gin distillery in Louth has been doing its bit to help the fight against coronavirus.

The good people at the Listoke Distillery and Gin School in Monasterboice, Drogheda have taken it upon themselves to produce alcohol-based hand sanitiser.

And as shops around the country ran low on sanitiser (and other products), members of the public flocked to the distillery in order to stock up.

On Saturday, the distillery - home to the Listoke 1777 Gin - announced that they had produced hand sanitiser at 62% alcohol.

Owners took the bold move because they wanted to do something to help members of the public in the fight against the coronavirus.

The Listoke Distillery was selling them in 250ml bottles for €6, with the price just covering costs.

This afternoon the distillery opened again in order to sell what had become a very popular product.

In fact, the hand sanitiser proved so popular that the distillery nearly ran out of containers.

In order to address this issue, the company urged everyone to bring their own.

All members of the public have been urged to keep their hands clean in order to prevent the virus from spreading. This includes washing hands frequently or using hand sanitiser if washing is not possible.
