Coronavirus Ireland: Exact location of 190 new Covid-19 cases with majority in Kildare and Dublin

Ireland saw a huge jump in the number of coronavirus cases last night with 190 new infections recorded, along with one further death.

The total number of confirmed cases now stands 27,499.

Validation of data at the HPSC led to the de-notification of four confirmed cases.

The death toll has now hit 1,775.

Out of yesterday's new cases, the majority are in Kildare where 48 new cases were recorded with Dublin close behind on 46.

There are 38 in Tipperary, 20 in Limerick, seven in Clare and the rest of the 31 cases are in Carlow, Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.

Out of the cases notified yesterday:

  • 76 are men / 111 are women
  • 75% are under 45 years of age
  • 75 are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case
  • 14 cases have been identified as community transmission

Meanwhile, there are 22 people in hospital fighting the illness with seven in ICU.

No admissions or discharges from ICU have been recorded in the past 24 hours.

One person was admitted to hospital in the past 24 hours, while three were discharged.
