Coronavirus Ireland: Dublin hospitals creak under strain as less than 10 ICU beds left in the capital

Worrying figures this morning reveal that there are less than 10 ICU beds across Dublin hospitals as the level of coronavirus infection remains high.

While the number of cases is dropping, there are still over 530 people hospitalised with COVID-19 in Dublin.

Only nine adult ICU beds are left in the capital with three in St James's, two in Tallaght, two in Connolly, one in Mater and Beaumont each.

Last night health officials confirmed 15 further deaths and 1,247 new cases of coronavirus.

A whopping 430 of the infections were in Dublin followed by 97 in Wexford, 87 in Cork, 84 in Limerick, 76 in Galway, and the remaining 473 cases are spread across all other counties.

Here is a breakdown of COVID-19 patients in Dublin hospitals as of 8 pm last night:

Confirmed cases (total 531)

  • St Vincent's - 111
  • Connolly - 89
  • Mater - 86
  • Tallaght - 86
  • St James's - 85
  • Beaumont - 74

Suspected cases (total 91)

  • St James's - 47
  • Beaumont - 13
  • CHI Crumlin - 11
  • Connolly - 6
  • Tallaght - 6
  • St Vincent's - 5
  • Mater - 3

Confirmed cases in ICU (total 57)

  • St James's - 17
  • Mater - 17
  • St Vincent's - 14
  • Tallaght - 9
