Coronavirus Ireland: Dublin City Council to launch COVID-19 helpline for vulnerable people

Dublin City Council have launched and emergency COVID-19 helpline for vulnerable people in the city.

The helpline is being set up by the new COVID-19 Dublin City Council Community Response Forum, reflecting other Councils across the county and country.

It will be available at available at (01) 222 8555 from 8am to 8pm seven days a week.

Both Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown and Fingal County Councils have already offered to help to at-risk members of their communities, including the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

Community response forums will be introduced and chaired by the Councils, to fall in line with the wider measures put forward by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government and Local Authorities.

The likes of the Gardai, the HSE, An Post, Tusla, ALONE, the GAA, and other welfare and volunteer services will all be pitching in to assist our most vulnerable during the COVID-19 crisis.

Access to groceries, fuels, and medicine will be the priority for the helplines.

The Fingal helpline will be available at (01) 890 5000, while the DLR helpline can be contacted at (01) 271 3199, with both helplines available from 9am-5pm seven days a week.

“This is about providing a targeted, integrated and co-ordinated approach to the delivery of much needed services to our more vulnerable citizens,” said Lord Mayor of Dublin Tom Brabazon.

“Life has changed for so many people in the past few weeks and we are there to help with that change.

"Staff in Dublin City Council whose day-jobs have also changed due to this crisis will be a key resource in the management and operation of this community support programme.”
